On May 4, Sam Allen, President of the International Society of Geosynthetic Materials (IGS), and Han Jie, Finance Officer, visited China Industrial Textile Industry Association for discussion and exchange. Li Lingshen, Vice President of China National Textile Industry Council, Li Guimei, President of China Industrial Textile Industry Association, Zhu Xiusen, Vice President and Secretary-General of China Industrial Textile Industry Association, Nie Songlin, President of Geotechnical Building Materials Branch and other leaders attended the meeting.

Li Lingshen first welcomed Sam Allen and his delegation, and said that the development of China's geoconstruction materials industry has benefited from the promotion of China's infrastructure construction and major projects. At present, the "Belt and Road" market has become a new engine for the development of China's geotextile and construction textiles. At the same time, the continuous expansion of the application field and the continuous innovation of technology are also important factors to promote the rapid development of the industry. In the future, we hope that both sides can strengthen exchanges and cooperation to promote the development of the industry.

Li Guimei introduced the Middle class Association and the industry situation. She said that over the years, with service innovation as the main line, the association has played an important role in helping the green and healthy development of enterprises and industries by continuously providing efficient and professional services through technical consultation, professional training, standard services, data services, information promotion, exhibitions and forums. Geotechnical and construction textiles are the key development fields of the industry. In 2022, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the National Development and Reform Commission jointly issued the "Guidelines on High-quality Development of Industrial Textiles". The five key tasks proposed in the guidelines are scientific and technological innovation, structural upgrading, integration of the two processes, green development and standard guidance. Determined the key areas of geotechnical construction textile promotion action, for the development of the industry injected a strong dose.

Sam Allen gave an overview of IGS work and the international development of geosynthetics. IGS has a history of 40 years, dedicated to the research and engineering development of geotextiles, geomembranes and their related composite products and related technologies. Over the years, we have actively carried out professional training, technical exchanges, academic forums and other work, and set up professional journals, digital libraries and other academic exchange platforms. At present, IGS is expanding from academic research to industrial application. At the same time, IGS is actively strengthening the extension of industrial chain, focusing on the sustainable development of the industry, and striving to build a society with credibility and international influence.

Nie Songlin mainly introduced the development status and trend of geo-building materials in China. In terms of geomaterials, China is a major producer of polyester, and polyester products will remain the mainstream of the geomaterials market in the future, he said. Among them, filament polyester geotextiles currently occupy a low proportion of applications, with a growing trend. Secondly, polypropylene geotextile has a better ability to resist chemical erosion. At present, it has a certain production capacity in China, but there is still a lot of room for improvement. Third, in order to meet the needs of engineering, geomaterials are developing towards the direction of geotextiles and geogrille composites. Fourth, dacron high-strength two-component geotextile has good tensile resistance, tear resistance, permeability and water permeability, which is widely used in soft foundation treatment of drainage plate film; In terms of building materials, polyester filament waterproof tire base fabric is an important building textile with huge domestic output and consumption. Among them, glass fiber reinforced polyester filament composite tire base cloth, further strengthen the product performance, more widely used. Secondly, polyester/polyester, polyester/brocade coarse denier high strength two-component tire base cloth using hot air bonding process, will be the future of the fifth generation of products, high strength, quite wide good, no dipping glue, and is thin products.

Yang Yaolin, Deputy Director of International Exchange Department of China Middle Class Association, introduced China's geosynthetics standards. Geosynthetic materials in China from new product research and development to engineering application, marketing and other aspects have stepped on the track of rapid and standardized development. In December 2018, the association was approved as the domestic technical counterpart of ISO/TC 221 Technical Committee for Geosynthetic Materials. It has set up domestic technical counterpart working groups covering key production enterprises, application enterprises, testing and certification bodies, research institutes and universities. In 2019, it hosted the 16th plenary session of ISO/TC 221 and meetings of the working groups. At present, it has recommended 12 Chinese experts to participate in the specific work of the working groups as ISO/TC 221 registered experts, and voted on the ISO/TC 221 standards and resolutions under development or put forward suggestions for revision on behalf of China.

The two sides also had in-depth exchanges on cooperation in important activities, education and training, standard services, information sharing and sustainable development of the industry.
